Han Solo Costume

I promised I'd show you the costume I wore to Comic Con so I thought I would make a post about it. First of all I decided to go as Han Solo from Star Wars and looked at these photos to get a good idea of how to make the costume.

To make the holster I took apart an old leather bag, reusing practically all of it including the metal buckles.

I used poppers to attach the leg strap and gun strap to the holster. I then used the buckles off the bag to make the part that attaches to the belt. I had found the two leather belts in a charity shop in my town which were the perfect size.

I got this bit of watch as a brooch from Whitby and thought it would make a great copy of the little gizmo on his belt. I also glued pockets to the belt and added clips at the front and back which clipped to the holster.

I spray painted a toy Han Solo gun I bought off amazon to make it look more realistic as it was originally white & orange I also spray painted a piece of cardboard for the bit at the back of the belt and spray painted the eagle as it was looking pretty shabby.

I bought a blouse from H&M, originally I bought it because I liked it, however it was perfect for this costume. I used some old walking trousers and tacked some red bias binding down the legs which I then drew black lines on with a Sharpie. The waistcoat was my sisters which she wore for a costume once. The boots came from Next last year, they were my mums but were perfect and are a pretty good match to Han Solo's. To complete the look I bought a Chewbacca toy!

Here is the full costume modelled by an angry looking me haha!

This costume was relatively cheap to do as I mostly reused thing I already owned, I only had to buy the gun, Chewbacca toy, some spray paint & the belts (but they were very cheap).
Let me know what you think of my attempt at Han Solo's outfit!

Film & Comic Con

So last week I travelled down to London by train to go to Film & Comic Con with my sister and dad. I thought I'd tell you a little about what I got up to.

It wasn't too busy when we arrived however we still had to queue around the block to get in, which isn't great when everyone is dressed up and standing in direct sunlight. Once we got through the doors it was a little daunting as there were no clear maps or guides for when things were on or where things were. So we decided to just explore the place (which by the way had 4 floors and mainly consisted of stalls).

I dressed up as Han Solo from Star Wars on the first day but decided to wear my normal clothes for the rest of the weekend as it was just to awkward and uncomfortable with the heat (I'm sorry I'm not a hardcore cosplayer!!). I assembled my costume myself and put a lot of work into it so another post will be dedicated to that later. My sister dressed as Hiro Hamada from Big Hero 6 and she even had a Baymax toy to carry.

On the saturday we decided to go later as it was probably the busiest day with a lot of people crowding around the actors/actresses. My dad decided to brave his Stormtrooper costume for half a day and he got plenty of signatures from the cast. One actor I was SUPER happy to have chatted to was John Ratzenberger (for those who don't know he voiced several characters for pixar films and voices a character on Inside Out), he talked to us about Cheers, an old TV show he was in, so we made a deal that if my sister & I watch Cheers he will watch Big Hero 6. Definitely a promise I will keep.

I was sad when I found out Carrie Hope Fletcher was there doing a book signing on Saturday and didn't see her. I was even on the same floor for the majority of that day  *insert cry face*. On the way back to the car we saw two Marvel Lego characters which looked totally awesome and I can't believe they made their costumes themselves! You can check out there Instagrams here & here.

However I didn't think this Con was very well organised as actors such as Michael J. Fox were crammed in small spaces that were just blocked off by fans. Another thing that was unpleasant was that it was incredibly hot in the building and there didn't seem to be any air conditioning.
All in all I don't think we'll be attending this event again despite there being some amazing actors as it just wasn't as fun as the MCM Comic Con I went to last year, a lot more people were dressed up and battling outside on the green, and there was just generally a better atmosphere.

Despite all the negatives I do always enjoy going down to London to visit my dad and still had a trip full of laughter and fun! I can't really complain.

~June Favourites~

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer:
I bought this because Gabriella Lindley aka Velvetgh0st, said this product was amazing. When I first got it I didn't think much of it but a couple of weeks ago I tried it again and now I love it! I think the coverage is great for dark circles and blemishes and instantly makes them less noticeable. I will definitely be re-buying this product.

Maybelline colour tattoos:
Okay so I never wear eyeshadow, ever. This is mainly due to the fact that I don't have time or I'm just too lazy. So when I saw several people rave about the Colour tattoos I thought I'd try On and On Bronze and Permanent Taupe. I love how easy it is to apply and how pigmented they are.
Permanent Taupe: left   On and On Bronze: right

Natural Collection bronzer:
This was my first bronzer and I actually bought it for my prom last year, since then I have tried a few other but yesterday in a mad dash to do my sisters prom make up I grabbed it from my shelf and rediscovered how much I loved it. I know its only a cheap drug store bronzer but I was amazed at how well it contours!

Real Technique Brushes:
I have the Concealer brush, Sculpting brush and Expert Face brush and I love them all! They all have there different uses but they all blend so well. I now use these on a daily basis so are definitely worth the money but I'm sure most of you already know these brushes are great.

Burt's Bees lip balm:
So I added this one to the list because I use it all the time and it's just amazing at keeping your lips moisturised and preventing them from cracking, which used to happen to mine all the time! I have the flavour pomegranate, yum!

This is my first ever monthly favourites post so please let me know what you think in the comments!
