My Top 10 Christmas Films

Let me just blow the dust off my blog... That's better! Firstly I'm sorry for leaving it so long since I last posted, I guess I've not had much inspiration and college has been swamping me recently.

However the holidays are upon us and what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to snuggle up on the sofa with a hot chocolate and watching one of your all time favourite Christmas films.

Here are my top 10 Christmas films!
  • Elf
  • The Holiday
  • The Santa Clause
  • The Snowman
  • Father Christmas
  • National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
  • Robbie the Reindeer: Hooves of Fire
  • Second Star to the Left
  • Dr Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas
  • Home Alone
There are still loads of Christmas films I haven't seen but really want to watch like Arthur Christmas, Love Actually & Miracle on 34th Street. Let me know of any Christmas films or TV shows that you love to watch at this time of year and I hope to post more in the New Year!

Liebster Award

Hello everyone, the other day a blogger told me they'd nominated me for the Liebster Award which I thought was lovely. So thank you to Lois from Lois Laine for doing so, definitely check her blog out.

So here are the rules:
Thank and link the person who nominated you.
Answer the questions given by the nominator.
Nominate 11 other bloggers.
Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer.
Notify all nominees via social media/blogs.

The Blogs I'd like to nominate are:

The Questions I'd like to ask are:
What country/city would you love to visit in the future?
What instrument do you wish you could play really well?
What is your favourite book of all time?
As it's Halloween this month, what will you dress up as?
What's your favourite season, why?
As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
One skill you would love to learn?
What do you want to be doing in 5 years time?
What made you start a blog?
What inspires you?
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

My questions from Lois Laine:
If you had to dye your hair a different colour, what would you go for?
I think if I was going for something wacky I would go for red, my natural hair colour is ginger but I've always been tempted to dye it red because dark red hair looks so cool. Also as a child Ariel was my favourite Disney princess and I've always thought having her hair would be mega awesome. If not red maybe a dark brown just because I think it's pretty, but I'm way to scared my hair would never go back to its original colour to dye my hair. I have a love/hate relationship with my ginger hair, but I guess it's kind of my unique selling point haha.

What's your favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing about blogging... hmm that's a difficult question. I think it would have to be that I can talk about what's on my mind to strangers who may come across this blog and read it, and I'll never know who some of these people are, and that they will enjoy what I write about. Crazy thought.

Do you speak any other languages; if not, would you like to?
I don't speak any other languages despite learning French in school. I would definitely love to be able to speak another language though, maybe French... Welsh would be an awesome language to be able to speak too.

You have been invited to a fancy dress party, who do you go as, and why?
hmm... I'm not the biggest fan of fancy dress just because it's so difficult to organise what to wear. However as Halloween's coming up I'm quite excited to go all out on spooky make-up and outfits, I think I might go as a ghost or zombie because that would be quite fun to make an outfit for!

What's your favourite drugstore and high end makeup brand?
My favourite drugstore brand has to be Maybelline, I always end up buying load of their products and I think it was the first brand I bought. I'll let you into a little secret I've never owned any high end makeup soo I can't have a favourite haha.

If you were to create your own makeup product, be it blush or lipstick, what shade would you make it in and what would you call it?
Oo I think I would create a lipstick in a light pinky nude and call it Pale Rose. If I wear lipstick its always a nude shade and I think a pinky nude would suit me best.

If you were to choose the three headline acts at a festival, who would you choose?
Oo I love this question because I love festivals, I would choose Biffy Clyro; I have an obsession with their music arggh, The Darkness; I've heard them live at Download Festival but would love to see them again & Vampire Weekend; they would be mega awesome live, they just make me want to get up and dance!

What instrument do you think best represents you?
I think an acoustic guitar best represents me. I'm not really sure why but I do love acoustic versions of songs more than the original, I think it shows off more of a persons singing ability. But I had a right laugh thinking about this question as I went on to ask my family what instruments they thought represented them, I had some funny responses.

What's the last thing you bought?
The last thing I bought was a Harrington Jacket which I might show in a later post as I love it!

Where is the last place you went on holiday, and the next?
The last place I went on holiday was to the Lake District, I went to Great Langdale which was beautiful and I had such a great time going on hikes. I'm not entirely sure where I'll be going on my next holiday but I am trying to organise a trip to Europe with friends in the summer next year which will be exciting!

Do you prefer The Body Shop or Lush, and what is your favourite product from your preferred shop?
I have a second confession I've never bought anything from either! I'm sorry beauty bloggers, but if I had some spare money I would definitely want to try out Lush products first.

Love/Hate Tag

A couple of days ago I was tagged by Emma from emslittlebox to do the Love/Hate Tag. You can check out Emma's Love/Hate post here. I decided to do this tag as it was a nice way for you to find out a little more about me.

10 Things I Hate.
I thought I'd start with the negatives, I'm not a very negative person so it's actually 7 things, I struggled to come up with many and I didn't really want to add small trivial things that in fact I'm not bothered about.

Stress - I understand that everyone gets stressed sometimes but I believe teenagers can be put under a lot of unnecessary stress at a time where they have to make difficult changes and decisions. Sometimes I find myself overwhelmed and I find it difficult to resist the temptation to curl up into a ball and ignore the world around me.

Feeling Helpless - With the recent media coverage on refugees in Syria I found myself feeling helpless and I wished I could have been there to help take refugees to safety. However I did overcome this case of helplessness, when I found out there are places all over the UK where you can donate sleeping bags and other supplies to help those in need.

Not knowing what I want to do at Uni - So this one just plain annoys me, I wish I was like one of the lucky ones who just knew what they want to do as a career or even what they want to do at Uni. There are so many different courses and Universities that I feel overwhelmed. It's a decision I'm going to have to make soon and that freaks me out.

Anxiety/Nerves - So due to a mixture of anxiety and my lack of confidence when I have peoples attention, when it comes to doing a presentation or something similar I get very close to calapsing on the floor in a big pile of nerves and sweat. I hate that this happens to me as I know this situation will come up several times in my life and I don't want to end up exhausted with worry every time.

When people are glued to their phones - No not literally, but when you're with people and they're on their phone all the time it's a little sad. People have become attached to their phones, it's like an extra limb. Sometimes I get the same but it annoys me and sometimes I wish the damned things weren't even invented!

Soap Operas - Whenever one start I have to turn over the channel, things like Eastenders and Made in Chelsea really bug me. They're just so unrealistic and the actors are so annoying, no one in my family luckily are fans of soaps. They're just not our cuppa tea.

Big Spiders - I'm totally fine with small ones but bigger ones have to go. I can't relax knowing it's in the same room as me.

10 Things I Love.
Now for the cheery part.

Cats - That being the first one probably makes me sound like some crazy cat lady haha. But I just love that they curl up near you and can behave quite odd which is always a laugh. And I absolutely will stop in the street to try and stroke one.

Family & Friends - Nothing could possibly mean more to me than family, our family is probably seen as quite unusual but they make me laugh and we all share an odd sense of humour that few seem to understand. Similar goes to my friends, a lovely bunch of people that I hope I'm still friends with once we've all gone our separate ways to Uni etc.

Holidays & Adventuring - There's something I find incredibly exciting about going on holiday, I think it's the fact that I know I don't have to think about any stress from home & college. Also I just love discovering beautiful places and going on walks.

Music - I find music is a great way to escape, and I just enjoy listening. I love live music, at festivals you always discover something new. Also I find music can remind me of lovely memories from the past which I'd forgotten.

Books - I love that when I start to read a book I can play it out like a film in my imagination, does anyone else get this? It then draws me in and I normally sit and read a book for as long as I can until I finish it. I haven't read a book in a while though which makes me a little sad, any great suggestions of books I should read would be greatly appreciated!

Autumn - I pretty much summed up why I love autumn in my previous post. But what I love most is going on a walk when the leaves are still falling and that autumn smell that's fresh, cold and slightly smokey.

Food - haha, who doesn't love eating things that taste goodd?!

Thunder & Lightning - This gets me uber excited haha. I love watching lightning rip through the sky and counting the gap between the thunder. Also I tend to associate thunder & lightning with Harry Potter, I'm not sure where that associating comes from but there is nothing quite like snuggling up to watch Harry Potter in a thunder storm!

Photography - I love looking at photographs which is why I love Instagram so much, it's a place to hold memories and laugh about them in the future. But I love taking photographs even more!

Rain - In the evening when you're curled up in bed or sat on the sofa watching a film, the sound of heavy rain always calms me and quite often helps me get off to sleep. I'm not entirely sure what's so calming about the rain, I just know that I love the sound.

It's September and that means I'm back at college and one other thing...

Titan Zip-Wires

So as promised I'm posting the footage of my zip-wire experience at Zip World in Snowdonia. I had so much fun and will definitely, if I get the chance, go on the longest zip line in Europe next time!

I tried and tried to upload the video on my blog but the quality was awful so I uploaded it to YouTube instead.
I'll leave the link below

Fruity Smoothies: Mixed Fruit

Quite often I find that having a smoothie in the morning can make me feel more awake and ready for the day. So I thought I would show you some of the fruit mixes I do on a regular basis.

This smoothie contains the following:
  • Orange
  • Pineapple
  • Apple
  • Blueberries
  • Red Currents
  • 1/2 Lime
So to make sure my smoothies are cold I use frozen fruit and this time I decided to use a ready mix fruit salad bag as well as Red Currents and Blueberries. I find it's easier to buy these bags of fruit and then choose the fruit you want from the bags, rather than buying fresh fruit and freezing it yourself.

The Red currents have quite a sharp bitter taste which I like as its subtle when mixed with the rest. I also added half a lime just to give it a bit of extra flavour.

Normally I use juice, such as cranberry or orange but as we didn't have any in I just used filtered water. If you want to make the smoothie a bit more health you can add yogurt and oats or milk etc... to make it more substantial.

Once its blended all together and all the lumps have been whizzed you're ready to pour it into a glass and drink you fruity creation!

Let me know if you'd like to see more posts like this & what kind of smoothies you like to drink!

Summer Holidays

So this summer holiday I think has been one of the best ones to date, I've been in Wales for a week catching up with 2nd cousins and distant relatives I haven't seen in years. A week later we headed down to London to do several touristy things. Then the next week I went on a short trip to the Lake District.

~Week 1~
We were staying with my dads cousin who lives somewhere near Welshpool in the middle of the countryside. This is the view from there house which was beautiful in the evening. I seriously want to live somewhere like that when I grow up.

We visited Coed-y-Brenin waterfalls that had some lovely prayer flags tied across the river, it felt so peaceful here.

We went on several walks and a 12 mile bike ride around Lake Vyrnwy throughout the week which was probably the most exercise I've done in a while haha. One of the highlights had to be going on the Titan zip-wires in Snowdonia. I had filmed it with a GoPro which I may add in a later post as I currently don't have the footage, the views were amazing. I will definitely go on the longest zip-wire in Europe next time which can reach speeds of 100mph!!

~Week 2~
In the second week we travelled down to stay just outside of London where my dads partner lives with her kids. We went to the Harry Potter Tour which was amazing, I could spend all day looking at the little details they added to the films that you so rarely see as well as the technical drawings of the buildings and machines in the film.

I tried Butterbeer which I found out I'm not really a fan of, for those who have never tried it it's like an ice-cream soda but mega sweet!

We also visit Madame Tussaud whilst in London which had a crazy long queue. Here's me with ET & Mo Farah!

~Week 3~
I went to the Lake District with my mum & sisters for a couple of days and we walked around Blea Tarn and visited Aira Force. We'd been staying in a little wooden pod at Great Langdale campsite which was just a walk away from the tarn. The Lakes are always so beautiful even on the gloomiest days which is why it's my favourite holiday destination!

After coming back from the three week extravaganza I realized I have all of my homework & applications for Uni etc... to do in the last two weeks. I tell myself every time not to leave these things until last minute and I clearly never listen haha!

~July Favourites~

Well July went really fast and I can't believe it's August already, crazyy! Here are my favourites from the past month!

Rimmel Scandaleyes:
The first thing I've been loving is Rimmel's Scandaleyes eyeliner. It's got a superfine tip and is so easy to use and can create the perfect wing (however I still need to perfect this skill myself).

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick:
I have these in shade 01 and 03 these are probably the best drugstore lipsticks I've used and the nude lipstick is a beautiful colour. Oo and also they smell like sweets, who doesn't love that!
01: bottom      03: top

H&M Cat Sweater:
My fashion favourite this month is this H&M cat sweater. If you didn't know I'm a mad cat person and I thought it was about time I express it through clothing. I just love this cat sweater! Sorry about the creases it had been packed to go on holiday!

Channel 4 - Humans:
I have a TV favourite this month, Humans which is on channel 4. I've absolutely loved watching it, for those who haven't seen it its about synths (robots) that assist humans with housework etc, however they discover there are synths that can have feelings and are more like humans than the rest. The finale was yesterday but I highly recommend you watch it on catch up! I'm hooked and so glad there is a second series coming out next year!

Now this month I've had some Blogger/YouTuber favourites.

Bambino Becky - Youtuber:
I love how bubbly and crazy Becky is and have thoroughly enjoyed watching her videos this month after discovering her! I can see her going far with her YouTube career. Here's her channel for those who want to check it out!

Holly White - Blogger & Youtuber:
Holly's blog is serious blog inspiration it's such a pretty blog and looks so professional. I love reading all of her blog posts especially outfit posts as she has such a great style! Her YouTube is like an extention of her blog with great favourites and outfit videos! You can check out her blog here and YouTube channel here.

Han Solo Costume

I promised I'd show you the costume I wore to Comic Con so I thought I would make a post about it. First of all I decided to go as Han Solo from Star Wars and looked at these photos to get a good idea of how to make the costume.

To make the holster I took apart an old leather bag, reusing practically all of it including the metal buckles.

I used poppers to attach the leg strap and gun strap to the holster. I then used the buckles off the bag to make the part that attaches to the belt. I had found the two leather belts in a charity shop in my town which were the perfect size.

I got this bit of watch as a brooch from Whitby and thought it would make a great copy of the little gizmo on his belt. I also glued pockets to the belt and added clips at the front and back which clipped to the holster.

I spray painted a toy Han Solo gun I bought off amazon to make it look more realistic as it was originally white & orange I also spray painted a piece of cardboard for the bit at the back of the belt and spray painted the eagle as it was looking pretty shabby.

I bought a blouse from H&M, originally I bought it because I liked it, however it was perfect for this costume. I used some old walking trousers and tacked some red bias binding down the legs which I then drew black lines on with a Sharpie. The waistcoat was my sisters which she wore for a costume once. The boots came from Next last year, they were my mums but were perfect and are a pretty good match to Han Solo's. To complete the look I bought a Chewbacca toy!

Here is the full costume modelled by an angry looking me haha!

This costume was relatively cheap to do as I mostly reused thing I already owned, I only had to buy the gun, Chewbacca toy, some spray paint & the belts (but they were very cheap).
Let me know what you think of my attempt at Han Solo's outfit!

Film & Comic Con

So last week I travelled down to London by train to go to Film & Comic Con with my sister and dad. I thought I'd tell you a little about what I got up to.

It wasn't too busy when we arrived however we still had to queue around the block to get in, which isn't great when everyone is dressed up and standing in direct sunlight. Once we got through the doors it was a little daunting as there were no clear maps or guides for when things were on or where things were. So we decided to just explore the place (which by the way had 4 floors and mainly consisted of stalls).

I dressed up as Han Solo from Star Wars on the first day but decided to wear my normal clothes for the rest of the weekend as it was just to awkward and uncomfortable with the heat (I'm sorry I'm not a hardcore cosplayer!!). I assembled my costume myself and put a lot of work into it so another post will be dedicated to that later. My sister dressed as Hiro Hamada from Big Hero 6 and she even had a Baymax toy to carry.

On the saturday we decided to go later as it was probably the busiest day with a lot of people crowding around the actors/actresses. My dad decided to brave his Stormtrooper costume for half a day and he got plenty of signatures from the cast. One actor I was SUPER happy to have chatted to was John Ratzenberger (for those who don't know he voiced several characters for pixar films and voices a character on Inside Out), he talked to us about Cheers, an old TV show he was in, so we made a deal that if my sister & I watch Cheers he will watch Big Hero 6. Definitely a promise I will keep.

I was sad when I found out Carrie Hope Fletcher was there doing a book signing on Saturday and didn't see her. I was even on the same floor for the majority of that day  *insert cry face*. On the way back to the car we saw two Marvel Lego characters which looked totally awesome and I can't believe they made their costumes themselves! You can check out there Instagrams here & here.

However I didn't think this Con was very well organised as actors such as Michael J. Fox were crammed in small spaces that were just blocked off by fans. Another thing that was unpleasant was that it was incredibly hot in the building and there didn't seem to be any air conditioning.
All in all I don't think we'll be attending this event again despite there being some amazing actors as it just wasn't as fun as the MCM Comic Con I went to last year, a lot more people were dressed up and battling outside on the green, and there was just generally a better atmosphere.

Despite all the negatives I do always enjoy going down to London to visit my dad and still had a trip full of laughter and fun! I can't really complain.

~June Favourites~

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer:
I bought this because Gabriella Lindley aka Velvetgh0st, said this product was amazing. When I first got it I didn't think much of it but a couple of weeks ago I tried it again and now I love it! I think the coverage is great for dark circles and blemishes and instantly makes them less noticeable. I will definitely be re-buying this product.

Maybelline colour tattoos:
Okay so I never wear eyeshadow, ever. This is mainly due to the fact that I don't have time or I'm just too lazy. So when I saw several people rave about the Colour tattoos I thought I'd try On and On Bronze and Permanent Taupe. I love how easy it is to apply and how pigmented they are.
Permanent Taupe: left   On and On Bronze: right

Natural Collection bronzer:
This was my first bronzer and I actually bought it for my prom last year, since then I have tried a few other but yesterday in a mad dash to do my sisters prom make up I grabbed it from my shelf and rediscovered how much I loved it. I know its only a cheap drug store bronzer but I was amazed at how well it contours!

Real Technique Brushes:
I have the Concealer brush, Sculpting brush and Expert Face brush and I love them all! They all have there different uses but they all blend so well. I now use these on a daily basis so are definitely worth the money but I'm sure most of you already know these brushes are great.

Burt's Bees lip balm:
So I added this one to the list because I use it all the time and it's just amazing at keeping your lips moisturised and preventing them from cracking, which used to happen to mine all the time! I have the flavour pomegranate, yum!

This is my first ever monthly favourites post so please let me know what you think in the comments!

EasyAcc Review

Hey guys, it's a whole week since I was at Download Festival (I think I've just about recovered). I mentioned I would be using a portable power charger for my phone at Download and as this is the first time I've used the EasyAcc Power Bank I thought I would write you guys a review.

I bought this off Amazon and had no trouble using it, it comes with two USB slots which means you can charge multiple devices at once! Also there are four lights that indicate how full the power bank is which I found to be very useful.

But I was most surprised by how long the EasyAcc lasted on one charge, I charged my phone fully three times and only 1 out of 4 lights had gone out over the whole weekend! I continued to use it throughout the week and still haven't had to charge it!
This charger really can be a life saver if you're not near a power source for a good few days, you could even take this to college/work as it's reasonably small, just in case you run low throughout the day.

Overall a great product and I'm very glad I bought it as I will be using it a lot in the future and it saved on forking out to charge my phone at the festival.

Also the EasyAcc's were on offer when I made my purchase which made it even more of a bargain!
